I was invited to shoot photos of a sailing trip on board Sailing Vessel Ocean Watch from Orcas Island to Tofino, a surfing town on the west coast of Vancouver Island. The journalist Dan Rubinstein was on board writing two articles. The first article was on Karl Kruger, captain of Ocean Watch and record setting paddleboarder. The second article was about the paddleboarding symposium in Tofino.

Stepping off the boat and walking into Tofino, it was as if I had been transported back to Silverlake, Los Angeles, a cleaner more idealized version. Coffee shops, high end restaurants and boutiques filled with local art abounded.
